Illowa Community Folk Dance is a group of persons who get together for the enjoyment of traditonal social dance.
We are part of a living tradtion - the folk process continues as we get together, young and old, musicians and dancers.
On these pages we'll post the current calendar of community dances, any special events we're involved with, the history of
Illowa Folk Dance, information about the bands who play for our dances, the performing and teaching spin-offs to the main
group.
All are welcome to particpate in our events. We teach as we go. Hope to see you at a dance sometime
soon.

***********************************************
We do American Social Folk dancing mixed thoroughly
with its Celtic-British roots - contras and squares and circle dances in the tradition of a community dance in a barn, grange
hall, social hall or someone’s home where all gathered for good music, to dance and to enjoy each other’s company.
All dances taught: no partners necessary (the dances
are usually danced in couples, but we change partners frequently); children welcome with adult participation; come once, come
often.
Cost: Donation to cover costs for Bands, hall and
publicity
